Eligibility Criteria
ECO4 and GBIS represent a continuous evolution, constantly adapting to new government guidelines that can shift frequently and create confusion. To navigate this landscape with ease, we've streamlined the eligibility criteria for you. No more guesswork—just straightforward steps to ensure you stay informed and compliant.
ECO4 Criteria
To qualify for ECO4, someone living in the property must receive one of the following benefits:
Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Income Support (IS)
Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC)
Working Tax Credit (WTC)
Child Tax Credit (CTC)
Universal Credit (UC)
Housing Benefit
Other Eligible Criteria that may apply for you are as follows:
Households must have a low or poor energy efficiency rating, as shown by their Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating
Households must be in fuel poverty or have a low income
Households may also qualify if they have a health condition such as a cardiovascular condition, respiratory disease, limited mobility, or immunosuppression
The GBIS scheme expands the Energy Company Obligation scheme (ECO4). If you meet the ECO4 criteria, you're also eligible for GBIS. If not, you need to meet the following requirements to qualify for GBIS:
Council Tax band is within and not excluding A-D (In England)
Council Tax band is within and not excluding A-E (In Scotland and Wales)
Energy performance certificate rating between and not excluding D to G (you can find out yours through this link https://www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate)
If you do not have an EPC, we recommend to apply anyway and we can check this for you
